A long way from Dudley Do-Right

In a story published Friday, the Detroit Free Press cited the mascot of the Northwest Mounties as one of the "most fearsome" mascots in the state.

"Not scary? Take a gander at the mascot photo," Freep writers Jim Schaefer and Kristi Tanner wrote.

Dudley Do-Right?

No. The Mounties have done away with cuddly Dudley and found themselves a more muscular Mountie.

Here's the new mascot.

Here's Dudley.

You decide.

Familiar schedule for 2010

The Mounties' schedule next fall looks pretty familiar.

According to michigan-football.com, Northwest is playing the same nine teams it competed against in 2009, and in the same order.

I assume that the games that were home this year will be away in 2010, and vice versa, but the Web site does not say where the games will be played.

When I find out, I will post them.
