Another winning year in 2009?

As has been well documented by now, the Mounties with their 5-4 record in 2008 posted their first back-to-back winning seasons since 1988-89. (They were 5-4 in 2007).

Northwest has not put together three straight winning seasons since the seven-year run of 1970-76.

According to Michigan-Football.com, here are Northwest's records during that stretch:

1976: 5-4
1975: 7-2
1974: 8-1 (Beat Jackson High; lost to Western).
1973: 8-1 (Beat Jackson High; lost to Kalamazoo Loy Norrix).
1972: 7-2
1971: 8-1 (Lost season finale to Chelsea, 21-7).
1970: 7-2

Tentative 2009 schedule

According to Michigan-Football.com, eight of the Mounties' nine games for 2009 have been set.

The order of the some of the games has been juggled but all of the foes are repeats from 2008 except for Tecumseh.

Right now, Week Four is open.

It would be great to see Northwest play Columbia Central again (they haven't played since 1995, according to Michigan-Football.com).

Who would you like to see the Mounties play?
